Since Outlier Journeys launched, we’ve proudly committed 1% of our annual revenue to conservation and environmental organizations through 1% for the Planet, an organization that supports the places and people doing the work to positively impact the future of our world. Last year we donated close to $8,000 to support the important work of organizations such as the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund, The Zambian Carnivore Programme, Amigos of Costa Rica and more.
This year, we’ve donated a $10,000 gift voucher to the 1% of the Planet Auction - 2024. And here’s the best part - You can bid on that travel credit with a starting bid as low as $4,000 for a custom trip designed for you, by us. The gift certificate is valid for travel anytime between now and December 31st, 2026 so whether you already have a trip planned for next year or are just starting to dream, you have plenty of time to redeem these savings.
The auction is live until November 12, 2024. Find the details here and lock in additional savings while doing good for the planet!
WHAT IS 1% FOR THE PLANET? WHAT DOES OUR MEMBERSHIP MEAN?
Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies,1% for the Planet is a globally recognized certification that represents thousands of businesses and environmental partners around the world. It was founded on the idea that a company - not the customer - has a responsibility to give back for use of our planet’s resources.
Business members pledge to allocate at least 1% of their annual revenue to vetted environmental organizations and when you return home from a trip with us, we share exactly how much of your total trip spend will be donated to conservation. Donations for the previous year are certified in April and a company must be in good standing to use the logo and maintain membership.
While obtaining additional certifications (such as B-Corps) are on our roadmap for the near future, participating in 1% for the Planet offered a simple way to show our commitment to the environment and give back from the very beginning. We were the first travel company in the Seattle area to join the movement and three years after joining, we are proud to be among 4,872 global businesses who have collectively given over $672 million to environmental partners around the world.
